Facing your demons means facing yourself

Despite his Elven blood and the prejudices of the Knighthood, Tristen became a Knight of Tallania as his father wished and fulfilled his obligation to fight in the Great Dragon Wars. Though the wars are over, Tristen can’t escape their memory. Headaches and flashbacks plague him. The only relief he available is from a special tea provided by the village priest. But, Tristen is forced to pursue other means of battling his inner demons when an upcoming event disrupts the supply chains. With the help of Saber, his dragon mount and friend, Tristen does his best to face his problems head-on. When knights arrive in the village, their taunting pushes Tristen to the edge. The Great Conjunction is upon them, and no one expects the attack that strikes in the dark. With another battle looming, Tristen must choose to fight for his companions and himself. Survival won’t mark the end of the fight, but perhaps it will bring a new beginning…

This book was a thrill-ride of reading! I really liked the snarky nature of the protagonist and found him to be very interesting. The premise of the book was great, and I was engrossed for much of the book. I found the premise and the characters to be very interesting and intriguing. I am really looking forward to more in the series. I recommend this book for anyone who likes the urban fantasy genre. Recommend!

I was hooked from the 1st page. I love that the story is fast pace...Matthew Angelo didn't get caught up in copious details like many authors do...Matthew gave enough description of the characters while saving some for the readers imagination. Rian is likable and relatable (in a way) that makes sense even though he's half human. I am excited to see what is to come of Rian and learn more about his past/family.

Interesting murder mystery with comedy written in from first perspective. I was a little confused at the first if I was reading from a male or female perspective however the author didn't make you read long before being clear. I really like that this supernatural story didn't have your average supernatural characters in it thus being unique. The sarcasm, witty come backs and inner monologue made it possible to connect with the main character. I really enjoyed this story.

A really promising start to a new series! My attention has definitely been grabbed and I can't wait to see where it goes from here. Rian is the quintessential troubled hero, which I love. Good guys are normally so boring. a really interesting world and plot line. Definitely recommended reading!
